This year we had a very kind offer from Kare Bears day nursery based in Ballyclare and Glengormley to sponsor the Mini rugby section with 35 new and much needed balls for all the age ranges.
On Saturday morning local businessman Bill McMullan from Kare Bears paid a visit to watch the kids in action against Portadown RFC and was impressed with the attitude, determination and enjoyment everyone was having at the club from P1 right through to Year 8s.
Bill is a long standing member of Ballyclare RFC having played most of his career at hooker along with a few other positions as and when he was needed! He is actually only one of a select few to have played at the club in four decades at senior level, the 80’s, 90’s,00’s and 10’s which is a feat in itself. Bill added “It is a pleasure to try and support these young players in any way possible growing up through the ranks of the club, and hopefully they will get as much enjoyment, friendship and craic as he got himself.”
Bill has just returned from a successful charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Cancer Focus NI, a charity close to his heart. He actually paid for the trip himself ensuring all the money he raised through various functions will go directly to the charity. He still has one more event to organise but he already has amassed a fantastic sum of over £12,000. Well done

Ballyclare RFC Mini’s would like to thank Bill and Kare Bears for their sponsorship and wish him all the best on future fund raising activities.
